  • REASONS TO BE INVOLVED IN THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION

Experience in Leadership Leadership is an acquired skill. Being a part of the decision-making team, learning to communicate to groups large and small, helping a team implement a plan, and enjoying the rewards of a job well done are experiences that will teach you the skills needed throughout your career. Skill Development College students are learning constantly, and being involved in student government and the related organizations provides opportunities to gain practical experience with the knowledge acquired in classes.

Academic Excellence Over the years, research has shown that students who are involved in organizations and activities outside of classes tend to perform academically at higher levels. Self-knowledge Working with others in an organization is an excellent way to learn more about yourself. Being a part of a team will expose your strengths and weaknesses and give you opportunities for self-improvement.

Networking Opportunities Making friends, building relationships, and sharing knowledge and experience are invaluable benefits for everyone involved in student organizations.

One of the best reasons to join a student organization is to have fun! Meeting new people, making new friends, and participating in school activities will help make the most of the college experience.
